A la Mode: Mom Life
Legal stuff: I am not a doctor/expert/therapist, I am a human being sharing personal thoughts and experiences. If I can provide sources for information I will but please, if you have health issues (physical or mental or otherwise), are in distress or need help then consult/contact a licensed professional. I can only offer support but a lot of what I'm saying is opinion. If you'd like a quick intro to this blog, click here!
When looking into child care for your infant, there are options out there like nannies, au pairs, sitters or daycare. Here’s a list of things I’ve learned since enrolling Theo in his that could help you in your research!
Maybe some day I’ll be all “hey look at me I’m sponsored by some brand and whatnot.” Till then, I’m happy sharing the things I like FOR FREE. Read on for my latest favorite thing from Target (as if I needed another reason to shop there).
It seems like the list of things you need when you’re about to have a baby is endless and it can be if you let yourself go nuts with it. Here’s what I learned I actually needed and used when Theo was finally here, and how I prepared for the day!
Even though I love shopping, the registry started out as a rather overwhelming process because, well, what ISN’T overwhelming when it comes to having a baby?
If you need a starting point on WHAT to take into consideration when getting your shopping list together, I’ve laid out a few things for you here and I hope this will help simplify the process for you!

After a conversation with one of my best friends the other night about letting go and realizing what priorities are, I thought I’d share one of the tougher lessons I had to learn. It’s been a theme lately - letting go - with things going on in my life in general and of course with raising The Baby.
This post can also be subtitled, “Hamilton: A Tabbulous Soundtrack” because there’s been a few gems from the musical and its official podcast that have been mantras that I’ve even made into calligraphy projects!

Remember how I said I wanted to blog about balancing being a business owner and a mother? Yeah…
There was something very cathartic about getting the nursery ready, not only because we had to throw a ton of junk out (purging feels soooo goooood) but also because it was such a huge signifier of new things to come.
Today I'm sharing the befores and afters of our nursery transformation!
Theo turns 1 on May 1st. I can’t think of an appropriate reaction other than, “Holy shit.” The Husband and I have managed to keep a baby healthy and alive for a little over 11 months and we’re about to celebrate his first huge milestone.
In the past almost-year, I’ve made a few… I guess you can call them observations and notes to myself about what it’s been like to have and take care of a baby. It’s a fairly long list, I’ll try to keep it succinct.
Some friends of mine are expecting their first child this fall and I couldn't be more excited for them! In their blog post announcing the pregnancy, they asked for advice from people and I thought I'd take the time to answer one of the questions they had that I thought was a good topic to tackle:
What are things you wish someone would have told you before you had your first kid?
Your entire house, not just the nursery, is going to be the baby’s domain for a while so you might as well equip yourself nicely!
Your list of things will be extensive and it doesn’t stop (as evidenced by the ever-present mountain of cardboard boxes from deliveries) but to start, here are the five items we absolutely could not have done without and, in some cases, still use starting with our Top 3: The Dockatot, the Boppy and our hot water dispenser. Let me tell you what I loved about each...
I'll cut to the chase - we have both. We already had a Nest cam and thought maybe that would be enough. However, the downfall to having an app-reliant monitor is that you have to have the app open all the time and that's not happening.
So we got an audio monitor to go with it. I thought "Since we have video, we'd keep things simple, be frugal and get this VTech monitor that's compact and super affordable. Pairing that with the Nest helped because we'd just check the video to see how badly he's crying or if he's just whining but still asleep.
